The day started out cold and drizzly with enough of a breeze to freeze the
hands. But, its the time of year when the birds are getting more active and
did not disappoint.

Wilson's Snipe are still in the meadows and calling but no owls showed up
for me this morning.
No gulls on the swim platform; must have been because a Bald Eagle was
sitting there!
Among the large flocks of both scaup was a single male Canvasback. A
Redhead and a handful of Ring-necked Ducks were at Pontiac Bay.
A large raft (at least 30) of Red-breasted Mergansers were out in the
middle of the lake and nearby were a pair of Red-necked Grebes.
Two Eurasian Wigeon continue; 1 was with the 100+ flock of American Wigeon
at the lake shore, the other alone with a female American Wigeon in the
wetland ponds.
A small flock of Western Meadowlark continue, again near the baseball
fields.
Pine Siskins continue below Promontory Point; so far, no redpolls have been
seen.
Two Anna's Hummingbirds on nests, both on Prom Pt.

For the day, 52 species.
