I thought this was odd and was wondering if others had seen it. There were about 12-15 double-crested cormorants with 3 or 4 harbor seals swimming very quickly together heading east on the Dungeness Bay side of the spit. It was like they were working together - when the cormorants lowered their heads or when they dove, so would the seals. It looked like the weight/size of the seals helped propel and increase their speed forward. I watched this for about 10 - 15 minutes, then went on looking for other birds. Is this something that happens and they hunt/feed together or just a coincidence of prey in the area and both were there?
