This has been a good winter for American Wigeons and Northern Shovelers at Kennedy Creek estuary. The wigeons are usually in several large groups in the waters just north of the marsh; my high count this winter is >250 and I have numerous counts of >100. The best observation times will be within two hours or so of high tide. I have seen a Eurasian Wigeon there several times this winter. I see at least a few Northern Shovelers on almost every visit; they usually are found north of the marsh. Viewing is ideal from the DNR interpretive area about 200 yards north of the highway.
