Today was a successful day birding at the feeders and on the river.
Visiting the feeders before we left home were Yellow-rumped Warblers,
Lesser Goldfinch, Mourning Doves, and even a Scrub Jay. Their joy was
disrupted temporarily with a swift fly-through by a Cooper's Hawk.

Later from the river bank, we saw Sandpipers, Cormorants, Marbled
Godwits, American Coots, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Killdeer, American
White Pelicans, a Western Willet, a large flock of California Gulls, and
even a pair of Mallards.

Did I mention that "home" today was in the South Park district of San
Diego, and the river we visited was the San Diego River where it flows
into the ocean at Ocean Beach?
