Subject: [Tweeters] Pine Siskins, tame and wild. Question??

This was a question I received in my blog. I would enjoy reading the answer of experts (y'all), before I answer.

"Why are some Pine Siskins, here on Puget Sound, WA, very plump (they look like they've swallowed a golf ball) and very docile, (sitting on the feeder for hours and not eating! and I can just walk right up and pick one up!), while others of the same flock are normal looking and behaving like a wild bird?"

Thank you for your trouble!
