Thanks for the article. Interesting concept. I suspect that the wildlife impact wouldn't be any less with this design than the current w/blades concept, just different. Currently, collisions is the central area of focus while habitat loss and displacement are secondary due to wind farms having a fairly small ground footprint on the landscape. From their design in the article, it looks like that while blades would be removed and the height is less, the ground footprint is quite a bit larger than current design equaling more habitat loss and probably more displacement as not much wildlife could exist in such a dense framework on stalks as they propose.
