Nothing is going to work to keep people from flushing the owls. We were at
BB on Tues and there weren't many people but there was a bus with a group of
folks ALL of which were in the field close to the Snowies and with huge
camera I think it may have been a Japanese tour bus and maybe they couldn't
read the signs. However our experience has been that it doesn't matter-- be
it signs or telling folks to back off.you can't make other people's choices
for them. While on Thomle Road in the eveing there was a guy who said I
know that I'm not suppose to cross the field but I'm going to anyway. I
hadn't heard this conversation between him and my husband and as he headed
across the field I hollered that he was wasn't suppose to do it and again I
hollered that he was trespassing on private and onward he continued..totally
ignoring me..and I KNOW he heard me. One cannot police others.it can be
dangerous. We can only police ourselves and try to be good role models.

On a lighter note, we saw several thousand snow geese and were told of a
Ross' goose at Thomle early in the week but couldn't relocate them again and
never did find the Ross's goose. We think that they have moved onward. We
also got a look at a Snowy on the dike across the field. Early in week we
also saw several large groups of Trumpeter Swans. By the end of the week we
could only locate small groups. Finally we got our first really good looks
at a Rough Legged Hawk hunting at Eide late in the evening on Wed and Thurs.
It was awesome to see him/her hover.
