Hi Tweets:

On the way back to Kirkland from an all day birding trip through Stanwood
and Camano Island, Eastside Audubon's 12 participants stopped at the end of
Thomle Rd. to look for Snowy Owls. We were not disappointed, in spite of
the strong winds that came up about 4 p.m. One Snowy Owl was spotted on
top of the dike with driftwood behind it so it showed fairly well in a scope.
With the cars parked parallel to the road, the owl was seen at about 2
o'clock as one scanned the dike. By the end of the day, at least 70 bird
species were seen, including 3 Black-crowned Night-Herons in the conifer tree
behind the retirement home in Stanwood. The Bald Eagles were numerous as
were the Northern Harriers. A Cooper's Hawk and Red-tailed Hawk were on a
bird-kill along Eide Rd. A Rough-legged Hawk was scoped while it was
perched in bare tree out in the field, also on Eide Rd. It was a fine day of
birding with good views of many of the birds.
