A flock of dowitchers landed on the beach below Sunset Ave in Edmonds around 4:30pm Friday.?? I was at the picnic table at the north end of Sunset Ave. experimenting with my new/used REALLY big honkin' 2.8/400L telephoto lens plus 2X teleconverter that I had purchased at Kenmore Camera?earlier in the?day.?
?
A?freight train?parked in front of me to wait for?the?afternoon passenger parade to?go by and blocked my view of most of the birds.?? I?took hand held photos of a few of them which were visible between two of the diesel locomotives.?? At an effective 800mm, it was a very small shooting window.????It is possible to shoot hand held with this?lens, which weighs a ton, although?my regular?weight lifting workouts at the gym?probably help in that regard.???
