Hi, folks,

At Ocean Shores on Sunday, 18 March (2012), were still at least six
SNOWY OWLS on Damon Point. The EMPEROR GOOSE was with CANADAs on the
golf course, but it took a few tries during the day to find it. Shortly
after high tide in the morning, an immature PEREGRINE FALCON taking over
a dead duck (scoter?) from a scavenging gull near the base of the jetty
meant no rock-favoring shorebirds were brave enough to show. The falcon
was surprisingly steadfast in the face of oblivious beach humans. A
BROWN PELICAN passed the jetty, as did a flock of BRANT, and tens of
RED-THROATED LOONs were in the channel, as well as a single male
HARLEQUIN DUCK, among else. Despite four trips to the base of Damon
Point and one to the rocks behind the sewage plant, no eider was seen,
though others had reported it. There were a couple BONAPARTE'S GULLs
near Damon's Point in later afternoon. Deer were everywhere.
