My husband has been seeing a smallish raptor where he works in a RR yard. It flies by the engine and lands. Seems to be an opportunist having the engine stir
up the rodents. He's seen it 3 nights in a row. There is bright lighting so not sure if it's "confused" by the lights - this is behind the Starbucks Headquarters in SODO (private RR property).

An all over light gray - about 8". The closest picture he can compare it to is the Sibley's Prairie Merlin. It does look to be in this area in winter. His initial thought since it is at night (very early hours) would be an owl, but color seems too pale for any pictures he's tried to compare to. It lights on a post but since he's driving the engine can't get a great look. He does know it's a raptor - doesn't have a lot of markings - last nite he said he did see some wing coloring. The breast is very pale.

Any suggestions as to what it could be? RR Hobo bird? :)

Thanks.
