Of note was a Red-throated Loon (NB plumage) on Union River. I captured some
great photographs of it. I also captured it struggling with a fish larger
than its head and happily taking it down in two gulps! I also observed a
behavior I have not seen before. On three occasions I observed and
photographed it climbing out of the water dashing up on to the md bank
striking at something in the md then running (using the term loosely) back
to the water. Unfortunately I could not see what it was catching. I am
assuming some type of small crustacean/invertebrate on the incoming tide.
