Cormorants also roost in tall Cottonwoods on the river just downstream from the Snohomish river bridge near downtown Snohomish. At least I presume they still do - I haven't been by the spot in evening times lately, but have observed the phenomenon (as a drive-by) for years.

As Dennis observed, there is something incongruous about big ol' Cormorants perching up on small tree limb's, and I have noted similar efforts of the birds trying to connect with a branch. I've also thought seeing Herons perched up in a tree (nesting or no) similarly strange- my own preconceptions of their 'normal' behavior in play I guess.
