Went fishing on the North Fork of the Lewis at Johnson Creek on Saturday. I had the following on the river.

Common Merganser - 20
Hooded Merganser - 10
Barrow's Goldeneye - 40
American Dipper - 1
Townsend's Warbler - 1
River Otter - 2

Today Sidra Blake and I birded the Carty Unit and observed the following birds of note:

Bufflehead - 6
Ring-necked Duck - 2
Bald Eagle - 1
SAY'S PHOEBE - 1 at the headquarters
Tree Swallow - 10
Varied Thrush - 2
W-breasted Nuthatch - 3
Lincoln's Sparrow - 2
Red Crossbill - Heard only

Also we have regularly had Evening Grosbeaks at our feeders and a N. Saw-whet Owl singing below our house above the S. River Unit of the refuge.
