Several of us were?at the marsh Sunday afternoon hunting for the Virginia rails.? We heard at least two of them in the cattails directly in front of the main viewing platform, but there were no sightings.? For a small bird, they have a very loud cry.??
?
We were not the only ones out hunting.? One of our number had photographed a cute little mouse?in the newly planted area by the walkway.? I saw the mouse from the viewing platform, but so did a crow.? The mouse tried to burrow its way to safety, but the crow got it.? I captured the event on electrons......I can't?say "captured it on film" any more.? Another crow was? perched on the boardwalk railing and was?looking down at a?strip of grass between the boardwalk and the cattails.? I walked over to see what the crow might be looking at and photographed two more small mice in the grass. ?????
