My feeders have been besieged by juncos all winter. The max was 20
on the feeders or on the patio beneath. There were still 14 this
morning.
I am wondering when the Golden-crowned sparrows are going to
leave. In previous years we have ceased feeding the birds after March 22,
but this year decided to keep the feeders up until early April. I assume
that GCSP don't nest here in Seattle. I am wondering whether the cold
spring has resulted in a delay in their departure. The pair of Evening
Grosbeaks and the pair of Townsend's Warblers that have been around all
winter are still here as well.
