Hi all,
?
I'm in Grays Harbor for the Shorebird Festival this weekend.? I spent some of yesterday and today scouting locations around the the harbor.? Today, is was just plain wet until afternoon, however the birds were out!
?
Bottle Beach - today, 20 Red Knots!? The tide came in fast this morning.? All the usual shorebirds as well except no big birds.
?
Tokeland - today, no shorebirds in the marina due to high water.? They were all on the grass lawns around town.? Marbled Godwit, Whimbrel, Short-billed Dowtichers and more!? One Red Knot here also.
?
Ocean Shores, yesterday - old jetty at the base of Damon Point - both Turnstones.? Today, 20 or so Common Terns on the outer beach plus more in the channel between OS and Westport.? Saw more shorebirds today on the golf course.
?
Hoquiam STP - 2 Red-necked Phalarope yesterday and today.? Ruddy Turnstone on the middle dike early today near high tide.
?
I noticed more birders around today so I am expecting the area to be well covered the next few days.? Bring on the rarities and dry weather!
?
Good birding,
?
