A quick report from Tokeland for those coming to area for the Gray's Harbor Shorebird Festival. We only spent an hour there at near low tide after the rain stopped around 6:30pm but lots of birds in the area. The marina had a few Horned Grebes in breeding plumage, 8-10 Common Loons in breeding plumage, 10-15 Greater Scaup, a few Dunlin in breeding plumage, and 4 Whimbrels. Around the corner at the spit across from the Bayshore RV Park were 15-20 Caspian Terns, 4 Northern Shovelers, 8-10 Whimbrels, a flock of 50+ Marbled Godwits, a large flock of small peeps (Westerns or Leasts? - too far away to tell).
