Hi Tweeters,

Bill and I went back to Magnuson Park this morning since our
visit last Tuesday had been fairly exciting. This morning we saw a total of
about 40 species, so not a huge number. The best observation was probably
one NASHVILLE WARBLER in the same area, just south of the dog off leash
area, where we saw the Western Kingbirds on Tuesday. The NAWA was with a
large number of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS (both races) and one or two
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS. At different locations we heard two WARBLING
VIREOS and also observed 3 breeding plumaged HORNED GREBES in the lake. We
saw quite a few VAUX'S SWIFTS in the Promontory Point area early on.

Around the wetland ponds area there were also large numbers of
YRWA and OCWA low in the trees and on the ground hobnobbing with
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, SONG SPARROWS. We caught sight of a couple of
YELLOW WARBLERS as well as COMMON YELLOWTHROAT darting around the pond-side
vegetation. There seemed to be an alarming number of BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS
everywhere.

It was very wet all over the park this morning and rubber boots
would have been preferable to our footwear.. Charlotte Byers, Seattle
