I birded Theler Wetlands in Belfair, Mason County, today, a little too late
in the AM to have lots 'o birds. Highlights for me were seeing a female
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD work on her nest and an ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD pulling
cattail fuzz for her nest; seeing a NORTHERN HARRIER hunting in the field
near the barn; and hearing my FOY BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK. The usual suspects
were there, including Song, Savannah, and White-Crowned Sparrows, a pair of
Hooded Mergansers, Common Yellowthroats (saw both genders), Pacific Wrens, a
Pheasant, and a couple of warblers I could neither see nor ID by ear (must
work on those birds, I've got some sort of mental block re them), Towhees,
etc. It was a beautiful day to be out looking at/for birds!

Good birding,
Mary
