Yesterday at Martha Washington Park (http://www.google.com/search?q=martha+washington+park+seattle+map&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a) my first Western Tanager of the year slipped out of the brush for a couple of lovely yellow and red moments. A Warbling Vireo showed up shortly thereafter.

I'm usually on my way to work in the early morning. Today was an exception. I had breakfast on the back porch with vocal accompaniment provided by a FOY Wilson's Warbler, then watched the first Vaux Swifts of the year skitter across the sky above the usual swooping swallows.

And late last Sunday the first Barred Owlet of the season showed itself in Seward Park. Just one. I haven't been back to see if it has siblings.
