In the past several years this week in May has been when Western Tanagers show up in Everett, and this year was no different - except the weather is better. While my portable office was parked down at Howarth Park yesterday (5/10) I watched about a dozen Tanagers move by in 5 minutes or so , and after a lull, a few more came thru. With the good lighting I had, the Tanagers moving thru the conifers there were easily spotted without binocs from about 100 yards away, showing up like sparks of flame in the dark firs especially.

A couple of Warbling Vireos also snooped by in trees right next to my truck.
