hi:

got a chance to get up to the falls this afternoon and caught the tail end
of a feeding session between 1515 and 1530. there are still four young.
based on size, the count is three females and one male. all appear healthy
and growing rapidly. the wing feathers are coming in enough to make the
white down appear a bit gray and the faces are starting to appear. the
scrape is easier to find because they have whitewashed the rock behind
them. they bounced around for a short time after mom left the scrape and
the biggest bird took several whacks at the little guy. he showed his best
rope-a-dope moves and appeared to say 'chill, girl'. shortly thereafter
postprandial bliss set in and the group members evolved from penguin-like
to amoeboid. there appearing to be little likelihood of any further
action, spike and i left.

regards,

t
