Hello Tweeters,

Heard a Swainson's Thrush with all the expected sounds on Mercer Island Thursday evening, 8:15-8:40 PM. Neat to hear them again. A friend in Easter King county heard several calling on her property a week ago.

Subject: Singing Swainson's Thrushes and all BlackTowhee

Fellow Tweeters,

Heard my first of year Swainson's Thrushes song (at least six different birds singing in a large area, the last hour before dark this (Sunday) evening. I don't know if they were passing through, just showed up or decided to put the word out that, as of today, they are here to stay on territory. This is one of my favorite songs with many years of pleasant associations. Also saw a male Western Tanager in great light- now that is color!

Also saw an all (but spots) black Spotted Towhee on our deck. Red eyes and white spots were in all the usual places. Beautiful bird.

Best regards,
Dan Reiff,
