Hi Tweeters,

I finally got my migratory bird fix, and only one day before the official
International Migratory Bird Day. I parked at Caffe Fiore at 32nd NW and NW
85th in Seattle. Walked down the steep stairs to the dog area at Golden
Gardens Park. Then headed into the trail system behind the dog park. Here I
found Yellow Warblers, at least a dozen Western Tanagers, Pileated
Woodpecker, a monkey-calling Barred Owl with one visible young 'un, plus
many of the usual suspects. As I was returning up the steep steps to my
car, I heard an Olive-sided Flycatcher off to the north. I walked down
Golden Gardens Drive NW, easily locating the flycatcher in the 8700 block,
perching and calling from a small dogwood and then a tall cedar on the W
side of the street. I spent the first week of June on Orcas Island for 4
years in a row as a school-camp chaperone, and always enjoyed hearing and
seeing this bird up there. Nice to find one closer to home. -Mary Bond,
