Hi Tweets!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing and photographing a swimming Virginia Rail. I was birding at Scudder Pond in Bellingham when I saw a Virginia Rail slinking through the reeds. I reached for my camera to be ready just in case the bird came out in the open, and I was richly rewarded when it swam across the pond. In the past , I've seen them skitter across the water, half flying, but this is the first time I've actually seen one swim, and I was so fortunate to photograph it.
