Highlights of the River S Unit at Ridgefield NWR this morning:

1 Greater White-fronted Goose
4+ Redheads (at least 3 males, 1 female)
3 Horned Grebes in breeding plumage on Rest Lake, between the observation
blind and the "three trees" area near marker 13
1 Solitary Sandpiper (down from a high count of 4 this spring)
3 BLACK TERNS flew over the SW corner of Rest Lake around 7:40 and headed
N/NW; heavily cropped documentation photo of 2 of the 3 at
http://flic.kr/p/bXvzYE
1 Black Phoebe (one of the nesting birds)
1 Western Meadowlark -- singing and seen near marker 12; I am not aware of
any recent breeding records for the refuge
