Hi Kimberly,
The bill does not look extraordinarily wide to me for a Mallard.
There's so much interbreeding with Mallards, I'll be interested to
see what others have to say. I have recently seen this particular
cross-breed, or one very similar, in the Sammamish Slough just north
of the weir at Marymoor Park. I think I have photos as well. One
guess, if it's even genetically possible, would be Cinnamon Teal,
just based on the color. But I have no knowledge of interspecial
breeding habits or genetic restrictions on the same.
