Subject: [Tweeters] Maple Leaf sapsucker update
Date: May 17 13:37:19 2012
From: Dennis Paulson - dennispaulson at comcast.net

I haven't seen the Red-naped Sapsucker in my yard since April 29. The Red-breasted has also been absent for most of early May, but it showed up today, so I strongly suspect it is nesting nearby. It made a few new sap wells, preened for a while, then flew to the north into the ravine. Whether the Red-naped hung around and is its mate remains to be seen. I'll be out of town for a while, so I won't be able to update further, but I'll inform tweeterdom if there are sapsuckers when we return.
