I drove out to Lake Tye on the west side of Monroe this evening to see
the Western Kingbirds, having dipped on them last Saturday. I spotted
one of them and noticed that the nest seems fairly complete now. Time
will tell whether the pair successfully hatches a brood. I stopped by
the prison ponds on the east side (177th St.) of the correctional
facility before heading home. There were the expected birds plus two
beavers swimming around. It's always nice to see beavers instead of
nutrias.
