Friday I paid a visit to Lake Ballinger in Montlake Terrace to check on the eagle pair.? One of them was sitting on the nest the entire time I was there while the other alternated between perching on nearby trees and circling the area.???Both birds got very upset with the strafing crows and a third adult eagle which briefly circled the area.?? I?saw no?eaglets in the nest, but the adults' behavior suggests babies or eggs may be present.??The nest is located in a tall fir tree on the grounds of the Nile Temple golf course east of the park and is visible?from the park's parking lot.? If you can't find it, ask one of the fishermen down at the dock.???
?
The osprey nest located on a cell phone tower on 205th St. (Hwy. 104) just west of I-5 is visible from the dock looking southeast across the lake.? Using my big honkin' lens, I could see an osprey in the nest and photographed one taking off from the nest and flying west.?? I suspect this may be the pair I have seen heading?southeast over Hwy. 104 from Edmonds after they have caught a fish in the Sound.
?
Brewer's blackbirds are present in the park and come on the dock looking for snacks from the fishermen.?? One male has a?right foot with no toes.??A fisherman has named it "Knuckles"? and said this is the third year?he has?seen it at the dock.? I?find it interesting that Brewer's blackbirds are present?at the park, but I have never seen any at my usual haunts in Edmonds.?
