Tweeters,
Last Saturday, Denny Van Horn recorded six White Pelicans flying by Neah Bay during our Clallam Co Birdathon. Perhaps not coincidentally, this morning, 5/19/12, exactly one week later, Dow Lambert has discovered six White Pelicans hanging out near the mouth of the Dungeness River, visible from 3 Crabs on the east, or from Dungeness Landing Park on the west. The pelicans appear to be in breeding condition, with big knobs on their upper mandibles. They're standing and preening on the mudflats at low tide, dwarfing even the numerous Bald Eagles hanging out nearby, who seem kind of perplexed by these big white monsters in their midst.
