Tweeters, This afternoon as I was getting back to the car to leave the Wylie Game Range on Fir Island I heard the distinctive call of a Sandhill Crane calling several times a short distance to the SE of the parking area. I could not locate the bird visually. Then as I was driving north on Wylie Rd., just about a 100 yards past the intersection of Mann Rd. a Lark Sparrow flew up off the shoulder. I was able to observe the bird well and as I jumped out to scope and try to digiscope it, a farm semi-truck came cruising down the road about 5 seconds before I was able to get a shot snapped. The bird flushed to the field. I returned about an hour later and once again the LASP was observed on the same stretch of Wylie Rd. Unfortunately, once again another farm tuck was rumbling towards me flushing the sparrow again to the field. I waited for about 15 min. but it hadn't returned to the road. There were 22 Pectoral Sandpipers and 4 Whimbrel off of Beaver Marsh road as well. Michael WillisonStanwood
