We went to the Methow .over hwy 20 it's still winter's with lots of snow!

Colonial CG .BARROWS GOLDENEYE,BUFFLEHEADS,C.GEESE,MALLARD,A.WIGEON,VGandNRW SWALLOWS.
Klipchuck.CG. Very quiet,last memorial day we stayed there ,lots of birds.
Early Winters CG. JUNCO,a pair,oxymoron , of TOWNSENDS SOLITAIRES.SWIFT SP.
Mazama AREA RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD,CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD,CHIPPING SPARROW,YRWARBLER,W.TANAGER,WOOD DUCK,DOWNY WOODPECKER,N.FLICKER,CASSINS FINCH,EVE GROSBEAK.
Riser Lake area TVULTURE,RNDUCK,WESTERNKINGBIRD,BULLOCKS ORIOLE,YELLOW WARBLER,LESSER SCAUP,HOODED MERGANSER,BLUEWINGED TEAL,WILSON'S PHALAROPE,COOT,RUDDYDUCK,CINNAMONTEAL,REDHEAD,STARLING,MAGIE,RWBLACKBIRD,WESTERN MEADOWLARK,YELLOWHEADED BLACKBIRD.
Winthrop area BREWERES BLCKBIRD,MOURNING DOVE,A, KESTREL,TREE SWALLOW,GOLDFINCH.ALSO 10 male WOOD DUCKS in the sewage ponds!

Roads to and Pipestone canyon .SORA,WESTERN WOOD PEWEE,BLACK HEADED GROSBEAK,RED TAILED HAWK.,LAZULI BUNTING,CANYON WREN,NORTHERN HARRIER,WARBLING VIREO,SAYS PHOEBE,PEREGRINE FALCON,MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD,NASHVILLE WARBLER,TOWNSENDS WARBLER,and another pair of T.SOLITAIRES,
DAVIS LAKE. SPOTTED SANDPIPERS ,KILLDEER,W.tanagers and orioles close approach.
the weather was not improving in the Methow so we headed east to look for shorebirds and prairie birds!
Alta Lake. PIED BILLED GREBE,GOLDEN EAGLE.
Hwy 17 south towards Sunlakes. CLAIFORNIA QUAIL, HOUSE SPARROW,A.GOLDFINCH.
STALLARD LAKE And nearby ponds. ROCK PIGEONS,AM.AVOCETS,NORTHERN SHOVELLERS,GW TEALS,GREATERYELLOLEGS,W,PHALAROPES,LBDOWITCHERS.
Sunlakes CG. Area. RINGBILLED GULLS ,COMMON NIGHTHAWKS(seen roosting in a tree,later flying).,CEDAR WAXWINGS,LARK SPARROWS,YELLOWBREATED CHAT(heard3),HOUSE FINCH,WHITE THROATED SWIFTS,DC CORMORANT ,GADWALL,RED NECKED GREBE,2 GHOWLS heard at night.
Lenore caves. 2ROCK WRENS
LEnore Lake GREAT BLUE HERON
Soap lake at southe and north ends BLACKNECKED STILTS ,AM.AVOCETS sitting on nest,
WHITECROWNED SPARROW,thousand of ClIFF SWALLOWS.
south end soap lake. 50+REDNECKED PHALAROPES,in breeding plumage,EARED GREBES,LESSER SCAUPS,RUDDY DUCKS, 1 WHITEFRONTED GOOSE,.
West of Ephrata BLACK TERN And in a recently plowed field south of the road to Quincy,4 LONG BILLED CURLEWS
At home , tulalip bay ,2 BLAD EAGLES,1 juvenile on the nest!
Total was about 120 spp. Certainly we missed some but so excited to find all the eastern shorebirds bc usually we go farther south to Othello and Richland areas.
Thank you HAL OPPERMAN et AL . for providing us with sites and suggested birds.
Now back in the rain planning the next trip.
Methow is a wonderful birding place!
