Today my wife and I went to the Kent Ponds for the first time.? We were not familiar with the layout so it took us 2 1/8 laps to visit every spot.? We are not good at identifying birds by their songs so that limited the birds that we recognized.? We did note the following birds.
?
Red-winged Blackbird
Savannah Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Spotted Towhee
Osprey
Red-tailed Hawk
Northern Shoveler
Coot
Bufflehead
Rufous Hummingbird
Canada Goose
Great Blue Heron
Gadwall
Mallard
American Goldfinch
Redhead
Violet-green Swallow
?
While atop the northwest platform a light colored bird flew rapidly under us, hesitating in a pine tree in Anderson Park and then disappearing westward past the Green River.? It was light colored with black wingtips, larger than a Robin and fairly sleek.? We don't know what it was.
