Carol and Tweeters,

This year there are two male Lazuli Buntings on M street, Emerald Downs. The second is near the barns. We saw one and heard the other on Tuesday; saw both on Thursday; and saw one singing by the road and heard the other today.

In my yard yesterday, a pair of Cedar Waxwings obligingly landed on a horizontal pine branch a few yards from me and my binoculars and performed their courtship dance. One offered a goody to the other, who turned its head away and took a long hop away from the gift giver, then hopped back and returned the treat. The first bird then turned its head away, hopped away, then back to the second bird. They repeated the steps about 20 times before one dropped the treat and flew away. The other took a long look at me before flying off. What a lucky sighting!
