Folks,

Last night I watched "The Central Park Effect," and you should see it at
the Harvard Exit on Monday, May 28, at 12:30. (SIFF=Seattle
International Film Festival. Out-of-towners, watch for your chance --
on line, local art house,...?) It's a charming documentary about
birders, and less, birds, in NYC's Central Park. You may see someone
you know. It does a good job entertaining birders while explaining them
a bit to those less afflicted. Between the people, there are a lot of
quick bird views, much like birding, a challenge, and a taste of eastern
warblers, especially. Of course, not five minutes in, I was shocked to
recognize my nemesis, Connecticut Warbler.

It plays with the short documentary, "Catcam," also cute. It's a chancy
programming decision with a birder film (perhaps due more to ignorance
than calculation), but it worked.

Best,

Alan Grenon
