Yo Tweets,

For those who find the Wenas road a bit too rough for the family sedan........I checked out some recent White-headed WP reports.

1. Sat. 5/26 Icicle Ridge Trailhead.....drove over from Seattle....at the trailhead turnoff, parked and my wife beat me out of the car and shouted White-headed woodpecker.....literally before I could get out of the car. Close views of a male from the road. They don't get much easier than that.

2. Sun. 5/27 Leavenworth Fish Hatchery Nature trail - 2 White headed WPs near the start of the trail, just across the bridge.

3. We struck out on the recently reported White-headed WPs at Sleeping Lady Lodge.....what a lovely place to stay for those with deeper pockets....excellent birding trails throughout the resort.

We camped at Upper Johnny Creek CG, about 12 miles up the Icicle Creek Road. Evening Grosbeaks everywhere!
Campground birds included:
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Hammond's FC
Warbling Vireo
C. Raven
Swainson's Thrush
Hermit Thrush
Robin
Macgillivray's Warbler
Yellow-rumped WA
Chipping Sparrow
W. Tanager
Black-headed Grosbeak
Pine Siskin
