In the 80-90's California quail use to nest and raise young in the fill and over in Tallis across the street.

Thanks for posting -- I was one of the two other birders who joined Ema after
hearing the call, but since we never saw the bird, I was wondering whether to
count it as a "heard" bird for my Fill Year List. Having just returned from
eastern Washington where I'd heard them over and over again, I was about 95%
sure it was quail and not starling-imitation-quail. Glad you got to actually
see it!
At the Fill this morning circa 8-9am, dozens and dozens of swallows at the Alder
Grove, plus a few VAUX'S SWIFTS.
