This year I am fortunate to have several red crossbills coming to my feeder multiple times every day whereas in past years they have stay at the very tops of the fir trees. They are actually quite tolerant of me. The other day as I was filling the feeder a female flew in and landed 6 feet from me and stayed there for a couple on minutes. What a thrilling experience that was. There is one rather brightly colored male that is a regular visitor and also an immature male which has fairly bright yellow plumage with a few orange feathers appearing on his breast. I have taken many photos of them and placed a few on my website in the "recently added images" gallery. www.rlkimages.photoshelter.com
