Hello all,
Mike and I had a few hours yesterday so headed up to the "hotspots" to look around. Lyon's Ferry had a few warblers but the 2 dozen plus Lesser Goldfinches stole the show! And a first for us - Tree Swallows nesting in the pulley system over the old ferry - always been Barn Swallows in the past - did see Barns swooping around them but obviously the Trees got there first! Had one Barn Owl there as well. Palouse Falls was jammed full of people but not many birds, Washtucna was slow - only 5 Wilson's, 1 Townsend's Warblers but middle of day not the best time to visit either. Did have Lesser Goldfinches there and on Power's Road in Columbia County before the turnoff to Little Goose Dam. This morning I found a Black-throated Gray Warbler at Bennington Lake (rare) and more Lesser Goldfinches at Rook's Park east of Walla Walla.
Later, ML
