Yesterday my wife and I parked at the Snoqualmie Wildlife Area just north of the Stillwater store, walked towards to Duvall a short ways to the end of the?marsh and turned left on the "road" (acutally?tire tracks)?that enters the Snoqualmie Wildlife Area, more or less parallels Harris Creek on the north side and ends at the Snoqualmie River.? We have lived at Lake Joy since 1988 and only recently learned of this walk due to following Tweeters.? We viewed the following species of birds:
?
Western Tanager
Black-capped Chickadee
Mallard
Swainson's Thrush (heard only)
Common Yellowthroat
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
American Robin
Spotted Towhee (heard only)
Evening Grosbeak
Barred Owl (heard only)
Cedar Waxwing
Turkey Vulture
Bank Swallow
Belted Kingfisher
American Goldfinch
Great Blue Heron
Northern Flicker
?
We then walked in Tolt-McDonald Park in Carnation and added the following species:
?
Tree Swallow
White-crowned Sparrow
Steller's Jay
Rufous Hummingbird
?
as well as seeing another Belted Kingfisher and many more? Cedar Waxwings.
?
Cedar Waxwings were abundant in both places and waterfowl, other than Mallards, were absent in both places as well as?being absent from?Lake Joy.
