On my fourth try to find the Cowlitz whimbrels, I finally lucked out this morning. Shortly after I arrived at 8 am, something spooked the birds and all the crows, ducks and 3 Whimbels took off and disappeared to the north. They didn't return in the next 15 minutes,nor could I find them further north, but I had good looks as they left. (I might add that on one of my prevoius attempts, I spotted a spotted spotted sandpiper.)
