A few notes for the upcoming WOS conference in Spokane. Pardon my posting here, but know that most attendees are probably on one of the list-servs. Feel free to forward if you know of somebody not on the list-servs and are attending the conference.

I have arranged for vendor tables to be open as early as 4:00 each evening (instead of 5:00 as originally planned). That should allow for more time for socializing and browsing.

The board has modified its typical "board meeting" at the conference. In the past few years we have met in another room before the social period and very few people have shown. This year the board members in attendance at the conference will be present at the WOS vendor table from 5:00-5:30 on Saturday evening to introduce themselves if you don't know them and to answer any questions you might have. This is an informal style and hopefully will work well for our members. We are also selling left over White-headed Woodpecker T-shirts so if your T-shirt from Wenatchee needs replacing, come find us!

In an effort to not keep people too late on Saturday (there are awards to give before the speaker and after dinner), dinner will start promptly at 6:00. The no-host bar will only be available from 5:00-6:00 each evening, so if needing a dinner drink best to get it before sitting down to dinner.

Thanks to the wonderful interest of WOS Members, the Spokane is the biggest WOS conference ever held by a wide margin; currently over 150 people are signed up (previous high was Wenatchee with 130+). With this many people, please be patient and allow extra time, especially in the mornings for field trips as the parking lot will be more crowded than normal.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Spokane and locals like Jon Isacoff and others keep finding good birds to make our mouths water thinking of the potential unusual birds that 150+ people may find.
