The wheatear was at the jetty as usual early. There were about 9 of us at
9am, and the bird was a little way out along the jetty, fairly settled in
one spot. Later, it started to fly around a lot more, to the logs on Half
Moon Bay beach and back.



Several birders looked for the eider, and nobody saw it. I don't think
anyone looked for too long since the bird hadn't been seen for the last
couple of days. It was more a 'just in case' hope than an expectation.
Westport marina did contain one obviously ill/injured, very bedraggled and
obviously not long for this world northern fulmar. Sad, but I suppose it
counts. There was a large godwit flock in the marina, but they all looked
marbled.



Tokeland was very quiet. The spit at 7th Ave was bare. There was a smaller
than usual flock of godwits at the marina when we arrived, all marbled, and
they soon flew off. Who knows where the rest were. No sign of a mockingbird
or a kingbird. We did have 4 grebe species in the marina - red-throated,
western, eared and horned, no Clark's today.



I drove around Brady Loop on the way back, mid-afternoon. It too was very
quiet - lots of flooded fields, not a duck or gull to be seen, and no
blackbird flocks visible either. All I got was a couple of raptors and 20
Canada geese.
