Greetings all,

Today I birded the Neah Bay area with Brad Waggoner and we had an excellent although very wet day.

We tallied 94 species between the town if Neah Bay, the Wa'ach and Sooes River valleys, and Hobuck Beach.

Highlights include:

Aleutian Cackling Geese in various locations of the valleys and Hobuck Beach.

Tropical Kingbird - present in the morning and late afternoon along the bay edge near the Makah Mini Mart in Neah Bay.

Lapland Longspur - same spot as the kingbird both morning and afternoon.

Snow Bunting - on the jetty road near the end of where you can drive west side of town.

Nashville Warbler - west edge of town at base of the road that takes you onto the jetty in Neah Bay.

Yellow Warbler - Late. Pished up in the middle of town in some brambles.

Palm Warbler - 7 birds! 3 at Makah Mini Mart location along the water, same spot as TRKI and LALO. 1 in middle of town of Neah Bay, 1 each in Wa'atch and Sooeis River valleys and 1 near the mouth of the Wa'atch river at Hobuck Beach.

Clay-colored Sparrow - seen in afternoon at the Makah Mini Mart location - same spot as TRKI - we dubbed this spot Mini mart rarity central.

Not bad, 6 warbler species day in November (both Myrtle and Audubon's, Orange-crowned and Townsend's also seen).

Cheers
