After yesterday?s report that the Wilson?s Plover was several miles south
of Midway Beach I decided to access the beach from the Warrenton-Cannery
Road, the next beach access south. (Plus, due to high water you currently
can?t access the beach from Midway Road.)


There were two Pacific Golden-Plovers in the wrack line at the beach
access. I walked north along the wrack line and had two Snowy Plovers fly
by heading south. I found the Wilson?s Plover in the wrack line after
walking north for 45 minutes. The Wilson?s Plover was by itself; the
earlier fly by Snowies were the only ones I saw. The plover flew south and
I picked it up again 15 minutes later, at which time it flew north. I was
surprised at how skittish it was. I?m not the best at estimating distances
so I hope my time estimates help.
