Chris,

No specific recommendation, but your selection should be informed by
the size and weight of the lens(es) you'll be using, and whether you
require a ball-type action. Most folks use a ball head unless
shooting video, in which case a pan head helps keep the frame horizontal.

Heavy, super-telephoto lenses will benefit from a Wimberly rig, which
suspends the weight of the equipment within the pivot system, so
you're not having to use brute force to keep the camera above the pivot point.
