Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday November 8. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On November 2 two MANX SHEARWATERS were off Boiler Bay. One was there
November 5.

MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES continue to be seen at lowland locations. TROPICAL
KINGBIRDS are still being seen along the coast from Newport south. Many
small groups of EVENING GROSBEAKS continue in the Willamette Valley. Numbers
of SANDHILL CRANES were reported November 5-6 migrating southward over the
Willamette Valley.

On November 2, 375 ANCIENT MURRELETS and 400 CASSIN?S AUKLETS were off
Boiler Bay. 2500 BONAPARTE?S GULLS were there the next day. On November 5,
3000 RED-THROATED LOONS, 55,000 PACIFIC LOONS, an EMPEROR GOOSE, 2500 SURF
SCOTERS and 2000 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS were seen there. On November 2 a LESSER
GOLDFINCH was north of Florence. A ROCK SANDPIPER was seen November 6 on
Barview Jetty at Tillamook Bay.

On November 4 a PARASITIC JAEGER was at Vancouver Lake. During the week a
LONG-TAILED DUCK and a SNOWY EGRET were at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North
Portland. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK is now being seen along Hwy 18 west of
McMinnville. On November 6 up to 29 SURF SCOTERS, 2 PACIFIC LOONS, and a
WESTERN GULL were on ponds in Salem. A SAY?S PHOEBE continues at the end of
Royal Avenue at Fern Ridge Reservoir. On November 3 two LONG-TAILED DUCKS
were on Lost Creek Reservoir north of Medford.

On November 3 two WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS and a SURF SCOTER were on the
Prineville Sewage Pond. On November 2 a pure YELLOW-SHAFTED FLICKER was near
Bend. At Wickiup Reservoir during the week were 30 SURF SCOTERS, 5
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, a BLACK SCOTER, a LONG-TAILED DUCK, 5 PACIFIC LOONS,
and 180 COMMON LOONS. At the LaGrande Sewage Ponds November 6 was a late
FRANKLIN?S GULL and a SURF SCOTER.

On October 30 a WHITE STORK was photographed along the North Applegate Road
near Murphy, south of Grants Pass.
