Sad news: a trumpeter swan was shot and was found wondering in the Fred
Meyer parking lot at 132nd street and Bothell-Everett Hwy in south Everett.
Not just any swan but a well-known swan wearing a red neck band with a radio
transmitter: M50. She was banded in Whatcom County on 12-3-2001 as an adult
female. Today her mate stood atop the building watching her get captured
and taken away. I plan to visit the pond where they were seen to see if the
crime took place there or if she flew in there once wounded.

Currently she is at Sarvey Wildlife Rehab center. Her outcome for
recovery is still unknown.
